Speed Limits
A speed limit is the maximum speed a vehicle may legally travel on a road. OSTA is responsible for approving speed limits on all public roadways in Connecticut.
A Local Traffic Authority may establish, modify and maintain speed limits on ALL municipal roads within their jurisdiction in accordance with the requirements linked here.
To request a change in a posted speed limit, contact your Local Traffic Authority. For enforcement of the posted speed limit contact your local police department.
