Shore Line East Service Changes Effective April 3, 2023

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is alerting riders that a new Shore Line East (SLE) schedule will start April 3, 2023, to support the Penn Station Access (PSA) project and restore some prior construction service adjustments following the completion of the switch replacement project in Old Saybrook, CT. The PSA project is intended to enable Metro-North trains to use the Hell Gate Line to connect to the west side of Manhattan directly into Penn Station, ultimately expanding traveling options for Connecticut passengers. Completing the switch replacement project brings the tracks back to a state of good repair.

These previous projects impacted train times with adjustments of up to 61 minutes. The SLE will now return to a more routine schedule.

SLE trains with schedule adjustments of 15 minutes or more include:

Weekday

  • SLE 1659 departing New London Station at 9:38 a.m., 22 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 1693 departing New London Station at 6:50 p.m., 40 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 1606 departing New Haven Station at 8:15 a.m., 28 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 1610 departing New Haven Station at 10:22 a.m., 23 minutes earlier.

Weekend

  • SLE 3645 departing New London Station at 2:19 p.m., 26 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 3610 departing New Haven Station at 10:38 a.m., 30 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 3618 departing New Haven Station at 12:35 p.m., 61 minutes earlier.
  • SLE 3638 departing New Haven Station at 5:30 p.m., 20 minutes earlier.

Other SLE trains may depart up to 15 minutes earlier or later than the current schedule.

Passengers can find the updated schedule here and are encouraged to visit ShoreLineEast.com for the latest service information. Riders can sign up for alerts sent directly to their phone or email at shorelineeast.com/service-alerts.

SLE passengers are encouraged to pre-purchase their rail tickets before boarding. CTrail passengers may purchase their rail tickets using the CTrail eTix mobile ticketing app at CTrail ticket vending machines in New Haven, or Amtrak ticket windows in New Haven, Old Saybrook, and New London (credit and debit cards only).

While passengers are no longer required to wear masks on board trains or in stations, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.
