New Haven Line Schedule Adjustment Effective October 29, 2023

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is reminding riders of the upcoming New Haven Line schedule adjustment that will take effect on Sunday, October 29, 2023. The schedule changes follow a series of public hearings and the finalization of the most recent Service and Fare Equity (SAFE) Analysis

The schedule change impacts weekday trains on the New Haven Line, as well as the New Canaan and Danbury branch lines. On the New Haven Line two trains have been suspended Monday through Thursday, and eight trains on Fridays, reflecting today’s commuting patterns. There are no weekend schedule changes on the New Haven Line. On the New Canaan and Danbury Lines two trains have been suspended.

“The schedule changes that go into effect this weekend reflect current ridership patterns and service demands,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Bureau Chief of Public Transportation Benjamin Limmer. “With hundreds of trains running every day, I am confident riders will continue having multiple options to get to their destination safely and efficiently.”

Below are details of the schedule changes and alternative trains available:

New Haven Line Westbound Towards New York

  • 1417 departing South Norwalk at 6:46 AM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3419 departing at 6:49 AM
  • 1419 departing Bridgeport at 6:28 AM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3419 departing at 6:18 AM
  • 1427 departing Bridgeport at 6:57 AM suspended Fridays, alternative trains 1525 departing at 6:42 AM or 1531 departing at 7:03 AM
  • 1437 departing South Norwalk at 8:26 AM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3539 departing at 8:32 AM
  • 1537 departing New Haven at 7:42 AM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3539 departing at 7:39 AM
  • 1539 departing New Haven at 7:55 AM suspended Fridays, alternative trains 1541 at 8:15 AM or 3541 departing at 8:24 AM.
  • 1585 departing New Haven at 6:25 PM is suspended, alternative train 1587 at 6:44 PM

 

New Haven Line Eastbound Towards Connecticut

  • 1560 departing Grand Central at 5:41 PM suspended Fridays, alternative train 1562 at 5:45 PM
  • 1464 departing Grand Central at 5:55 PM is suspended, alternative train 1562 at 5:45 PM
  • 1568 departing Grand Central at 6:07 PM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3570 departing at 6:12 PM
  • 1470 departing Grand Central at 6:10 PM suspended Fridays, alternative train 3570 departing at 6:12 PM
  • 1572 departing Grand Central at 6:45 PM suspended Fridays, alternative trains 1570 at 6:31 PM or 1574 at 6:53 PM

 

New Canaan Branch Line

  • 1759 departing New Canaan at 12:29 PM suspended, alternative trains 1755 departing at 11:29 AM or 1763 at 1:29 PM
  • 1722 departing Stamford at 12:01 PM suspended, alternative trains 1718 departing at 11:01 AM or 1726 at 1:01 PM

 

Danbury Branch Line

  • 1895 departing Danbury at 9:17 PM suspended, alternative trains 1889 departing at 6:47 PM or 1897 at 10:32 PM
  • 1890 departing South Norwalk at 11:17 PM suspended, alternative train 1882 departing at 9:10 PM

App.

All rail customers are encouraged to pre-purchase their rail tickets before boarding. Customers may use the MTA TrainTime app or ticket vending machines conveniently located at most New Haven Line stations. For information on how to use the app, visit https://new.mta.info/traintime.

For real-time service updates and information, customers can use the following options: 

MYmta app – Customers who use the comprehensive MYmta smartphone app will see real-time travel information for all MTA services in one place. 

new.mta.info – The “Service Status” box at new.mta.info is always the definitive source for the latest status for each line.

For those who prefer to contact the MTA by telephone, information is available by dialing 511. Connecticut customers should call (877) 690-5114. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can use their preferred service provider for the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
