Upgrade of Regulatory Signs in Various Connecticut Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans for the systematic replacement and/or installation of ONE WAY, DO NOT ENTER, WRONG WAY and KEEP RIGHT signs along divided highways and one-way sections of highway at intersecting roadways to achieve compliance with Federal standards.

 

Under four separate state projects, there are approximately 49 locations that have been screened and identified by CTDOT that may benefit from enhanced signing

 

The following divided highways and intersections are included:

 

Project 0174-0432: (13 locations)

  • Bethel – U.S. Route 6 (Newtown Road) at Sky Edge Drive
  • Canton – Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) at Dyer Cemetery Road East Extension
  • Canton – Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) at Dyer Cemetery Road West Extension
  • Danbury – Route 53 (Main Street) at Boughton Street
  • Danbury – Route 53 (Main Street) at Wooster Street
  • Danbury – Route 53 (Main Street) at Park Place
  • Danbury – Route 6 (Newtown Road) and SR 806 (Newtown Road)/ I-84 eastbound Exit 8 off-ramp
  • Farmington – Route 531 (Colt Highway) at mile point 1.06

  • New Milford – Route 202 (Danbury Drive) at Maplewood Indoor Flea Market
  • Simsbury – Route 185 (Hartford Road) at East Weatogue Street (mile point 0.49)

  • Southbury – Route 67 (Southford Road) at Route 6/I-84 eastbound Exit 15 ramp

  • Plainfield – Route 14 East (Prospect Street) at mile point 17.99 Turnaround
  • Plainfield – Route 14 West (Ward Avenue) at mile point 18.23 Turnaround

Project 0171-0450: (11 locations)

  • Bolton – Route 6 (Boston Turnpike) at Morancey Road
  • East Hartford – Service Route 517 (Main Street) at High Street
  • Meriden – Route 5 (North Broad Street) at mile point 18.96
  • Newington – Route 15 (Berlin Turnpike) at Brockett Street
  • Newington – Route 15 (Berlin Turnpike) at mile point 76.15
  • Tolland – Route 74 (Tolland Stage Road) at Route 30 (Hartford Turnpike)
  • Windsor – Route 305 (Bloomfield Avenue) at I-91 off-ramp northbound
  • Windsor – Route 305 (Bloomfield Avenue) at I-91 on-ramp northbound
  • Windsor – Route 305 (Bloomfield Avenue) at I-91 off-ramp southbound
  • Newington – Route 15 (Berlin Turnpike) at East Robbins Avenue
  • Newington – Route 15 (Berlin Turnpike) at Prospect Street

It is CTDOT policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

 

The design plans for these projects are expected to be completed in December 2022.
