Notice of Public Information Meeting Concerning the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 06772 on Route 63 over Straitsville Brook in the Town of Naugatuck.

The Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 06772 on Route 63 over Straitsville Brook in the Town of Naugatuck on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. The formal presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The project is identified as State Project No. 0087-0148.

The purpose of the project is to address structural deficiencies and provide slope stabilization at the ends of the structure. The existing structure is an approximately 75-foot long, 9.5-foot wide, 6-foot-tall asphalt coated corrugated metal pipe arch proposed to be relined with a 55” x 73” pipe arch. Concrete wingwalls will be constructed at both the inlet and the outlet.

There are right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements. Properties directly abutting the inlet and outlet of the structure will require temporary construction easements. On the outlet side, a permanent easement may be required.

Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2024 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way and approval of permit(s).  The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $1.5 million.  This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 100 percent State funds.

The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
