Service Improvements on the New Haven Line, Waterbury Branch Line, and Shore Line East beginning Monday, July 11, 2022

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced upcoming schedule changes and service improvements on the New Haven Line (NHL), Waterbury Branch Line (WBL), and Shore Line East (SLE).

Beginning Monday, July 11, six new express trains will run on the NHL and seven new trains will come into service on the WBL. Additionally, an updated schedule for SLE is in place, reflecting operational improvements from the M8 electric trains. Select SLE trains will see a reduction in travel time up to 10 minutes. These rail service improvements are the result of collaboration between CTDOT, Amtrak, and Metro-North Railroad (MNR).

The updated NHL and WBL train schedules are available at MTA.info/mnr. The updated SLE schedule is available at Shorelineeast.com. Customers are encouraged to check the schedules and status of service before they travel.

All rail customers are encouraged to pre-purchase their rail tickets before boarding. Customers may use the MTA eTix smartphone application or ticket vending machines at New Haven Line stations.

The requirement of wearing a mask on public transportation has been lifted and is no longer being enforced on Hartford Line, Shore Line East, and in rail facilities in Connecticut. Per current CDC guidelines, wearing a mask is strongly encouraged. Customers who feel sick should not use public transportation. New Haven Line services are operated by Metro-North and adhere to New York State mask guidelines. Visit new.mta.info for details on Metro-North’s mask requirements prior to travel.
