Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals at 14 Locations in Various Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace existing traffic control signal equipment with new equipment to meet current standards at 14 locations in Berlin, East Windsor, Glastonbury, Meriden, Rocky Hill, South Windsor, Vernon, Wethersfield, Windsor, and Wolcott. At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded in an effort to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. CTDOT will coordinate with the municipality during the design phase. The following intersections are included:

 

Traffic Control Signal – Full Replacement:

 

  • Berlin, Route 372 (Mill Street) at Main Street
  • Berlin, Route 160 (Deming Road) at Bacon Lane and Eversource Driveway
  • East Windsor, Route 140 (Bridge Street) at I-91 Southbound Ramps
  • East Windsor, Route 140 (Bridge Street) at I-91 Northbound Ramps
  • Glastonbury, Route 17 at Main Street and Buttonball Lane
  • Meriden, Route 71 (Old Colony Road) at Hall Avenue
  • Rocky Hill, Route 160 (New Britain Avenue) at Trinity Ridge Road and New Road
  • South Windsor, Route 30 (Ellington Road) at Chapel Road
  • Vernon, Route 83 (Talcottville Road) at Dart Hill Road and Regan Road
  • Vernon, Route 83 (Talcottville Road) at Shoppes at Vernon Valley Driveway and Briar Knoll Apartments Driveway
  • Wethersfield, Route 314 (Jordan Lane) at Ridge Road
  • Windsor, Route 187 (Blue Hills Avenue) at Day Hill Road
  • Wolcott, SR 844 (Meriden Avenue) at Byam Road and Farview Avenue 

Traffic Control Signal – Partial Replacement:

 

  • East Windsor, Route 140 (Bridge Street and North Road) at U.S. Route 5 (Prospect Hill Road) 

It is CTDOT policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

 

The design plans for this project are expected to be completed in June 2024 with a tentative advertising date for construction of September 2024.
