Hartford Line Schedule Adjustments to Accommodate Amtrak’s Rail Replacement Project (Stage 2)

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced temporary weekday train schedule adjustments effective October 24, 2022, through November 18, 2022, on the Hartford Line (HL). This work is necessary to accommodate Stage 2 of Amtrak’s Rail Replacement Project. The Rail Replacement Project consists of three stages of work to replace rail at or near its useful life and keep the railroad in a state of good repair. The first stage in Meriden was completed on October 21, 2022. The second stage of work will replace sections of track between Berlin and Hartford.

Please note that the rail replacement project will require train time adjustments of up to 35 minutes, and as a result, some connecting trains may have changed. These schedule changes will not impact any station platform boarding assignments.

HL trains with significant schedule adjustments include:

  • CTrail train 4450 will depart New Haven Union Station at 5:20 AM, 35 minutes earlier

  • CTrail train 4406 will depart New Haven Union Station at 11:50 AM, 15 minutes earlier

  • Amtrak train 473 will depart Springfield Station at 11:45 AM, 20 minutes earlier

Several other weekday HL trains may depart up to 10 minutes earlier or later than the current schedule

Passengers can find the updated schedule here and are encouraged to visit HartfordLine.com or Amtrak.com for the latest service information. Riders can also sign up for alerts sent directly to their phone or email at HartfordLine.com/service-alerts.

While passengers are no longer required to wear masks on board trains or in stations, masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so.
