In anticipation of increased ridership over the Thanksgiving holiday period, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced additional trains on Hartford Line and additional rail cars on Shore Line East trains.

CTDOT Announces Upcoming Signal Work on the Metro-North Waterbury Line for November
The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced recently completed track and signal improvements on the Waterbury Line will be commissioned and activated for service. The activation of the new rail systems will require continuous busing of Waterbury Line customers for one weekend.

GOVERNOR LAMONT, CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND AAA RAISE AWARENESS FOR THE NEW REAR SEAT BELT LAW GOING INTO EFFECT ON OCTOBER 1
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Office of Highway Safety, and AAA today announced that beginning Friday, October 1, 2021, a new Connecticut law will require all passengers to buckle up, regardless of where they are positioned in the vehicle. The legislation enacting the new law was signed by the governor in July.

Today, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) joined transportation officials from across the country in recognizing the important role roundabouts play in improving safety and traffic conditions as part of National Roundabout Week (September 20-24, 2021). Recognized as one of the most effective ways to reduce intersection crashes and fatalities, roundabouts promote a continuous flow of traffic, which reduces delays, congestion, and the harmful emissions produced from vehicles idling and accelerating at intersections with stop signs and traffic signals.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Announces Changes to Cross-Honored Tickets Between Shore Line East and Amtrak Rail Services
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and Amtrak, in partnership with U.S. Congressman Joe Courtney are pleased to announce that effective Monday, September 27, 2021, Amtrak will accept Shore Line East ten-trip tickets and monthly passes for Amtrak trains #86, #93, #94, and #137. Tickets will be cross honored through Amtrak’s RideReserve Program, which is available through Amtrak’s website or mobile app.
