The Connecticut Department of Transportation today announced additional weekday trains on the Hartford Line beginning Monday, June 1, 2020. These trains will provide Hartford Line passengers with additional travel options and additional train connections to and from Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station in New York. Additionally, schedules will be adjusted for one Hartford Line weekday train and three Shore Line East weekday trains.
Two additional Amtrak Hartford Line weekday trains will operate Monday through Friday as follows:
- Train 475 will depart Springfield at 3:55 pm make all intermediate stops, arriving in New Haven at 5:18 pm.
- Train 476 will depart New Haven at 5:25 pm make all intermediate stops, arriving in Springfield at 6:48 pm.
One CTrail Hartford Line weekday train will have its schedule adjusted Monday through Friday as follows:
- Train 4466 will depart Springfield 30 minutes later at 6:30 pm, arriving New Haven at 8:02 pm.
Three CTrail Shore Line East weekday trains will have new train numbers and their schedule adjusted Monday through Friday as follows:
- New train 3631 (formerly 3629) will depart New London 8 minutes earlier at 10:12 am and arrive in New Haven at 11:32 am.
- New train 3657 (formerly 3655) will depart Old Saybrook 8 minutes earlier at 5:41 pm and arrive in New Haven at 6:27 pm.
- New train 3636 (formerly 3638) will depart New Haven 5 minutes earlier at 5:25 pm and arrive in New London at 6:47 pm.
Connecticut rail service has seen a significant decline in ridership, the result of increased teleworking and requests by Governor Ned Lamont for citizens to “Stay Safe, Stay Home.” The Department also announced increased train cleaning to keep frontline employees and passengers safe.
All rail passengers are encouraged to pre-purchase their rail tickets before boarding. CTrail passengers may purchase their rail tickets using the CTrail mobile ticketing app, or at CTrail Ticket Vending Machines located at most Hartford Line stations, and New Haven Union and State Street Stations.
Additionally, Hartford Line passengers may purchase their Amtrak tickets at Amtrak ticket windows in New Haven, Hartford and Springfield, select Quik-trak ticket machines, Amtrak mobile ticketing app, online at Amtrak.com or through the Amtrak call center.
Shore Line East passengers may purchase their tickets at Amtrak ticket windows in New Haven, Old Saybrook and New London (credit card and debit cards only).
