The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that start of intersection improvements and widening work including traffic shifts and lane closures on Route 1 (Post Road East) in Westport will begin on March 13, 2023.

The project will add left turn lanes and upgrade traffic signal equipment. Tree clearing, utility relocation, excavation for and installation of new drainage structures, and new pavement at three (3) locations (Fresh Market Driveway, Roseville Road/Hillspoint Road, and Bulkley Avenue North/South) is also planned.

DOT Project No. 0158-0215 was awarded to Guerrera Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $12,992,995.50 on December 23, 2022, and is scheduled to be completed on April 26, 2025. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3 in New Haven.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

U.S. Route 1 (Post Road East)

There will be allowable closures of one travel lane on Route 1 (Post Road East) during the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Bulkley Avenue (North & South), Crescent Road, Hillspoint Road, Rayfield Road, and Roseville Road

Permitted closures during active work periods may restrict traffic to alternating one way traffic with active traffic control, police, or flagging personnel.
