Existing Bridge Coating Removal on Various Bridges in Connecticut

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing bridge coating removal emergency work will begin the week of March 6, 2023.

Work is being conducted at various locations throughout Connecticut to address peeling bridge paint and to stabilize these locations with a rust inhibitor. Work is anticipated to be completed by December 1, 2023. Bridges will be repainted at a later date.

DOT Project No. 0200-0032 was awarded to Rotha Contracting, Inc.; DOT Project No. 0200-0033 was awarded to Blast All, Inc. and DOT Project No. 0200-0034 was awarded Mohawk Northeast, Inc. Each contract was awarded at $1,000,000 on February 27, 2023 and are scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2023. These projects are being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 Office in Rocky Hill, District 2 Office in Norwich, and District 3 Office in New Haven.

 

The clean up of paint peeling from bridges began in February and continues as needed.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

There may be lane closures on various routes at various times based on the work being conducted. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in a work zone.

 

National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 17 – 21, 2023. This year, we are reminding the public to "Work with Us" to help reduce work zone crashes. Slowing down before work zones helps keep motorists and work zone workers safe.
