Replacement of Highway Signing on Route 8 from Bridgeport to Shelton

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the overnight closure of the Route 15 Exit 52 Southbound Off Ramp to Route 8 on or about Tuesday May 10, 2022 to allow for the installation of highway signing.

The project includes replacing, relocating, and removing existing overhead and side mounted signs, installing additional signs as needed, and replacing deficient overhead sign supports along Route 8 in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Shelton.

DOT Project No. 0173-0441 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors of Danbury CT on November 19, 2018 at a cost of $6,191,729. Construction is scheduled to completed on May 31, 2022. This project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 3, New Haven. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

On or about May 10, 2022, motorists can expect the closure of the Route 15 Exit 52 Southbound Off Ramp. The anticipated work schedule for this closure is Monday through Wednesday from 7 p.m to 5 a.m.

Traffic control personnel, Variable Message Signs, and detour signage will be in place to guide motorists through the work area.

Segments of the following routes will be impacted by this project:

  • Route 8 (Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Shelton)
  • Route 15 at the Route 8 Interchange (Trumbull)
  • Route 108 at the Route 8 interchange (Bridgeport)

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to utilize caution through this and all other construction work zones.
