Closure of Jackson Street in Waterbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work associated with the Route 8/I-84 Interchange (Mixmaster) rehabilitation project in Waterbury will close the southern portion of Jackson Street beginning Monday, January 10, 2022. This closure will remain in effect through February 7, 2022.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of numerous bridges located within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange and was awarded to Walsh Construction Company at a cost of $152,960,945.27 on April 18, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed June 17, 2023. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 4, Thomaston.

CLOSURE INFORMATION

The southern portion of Jackson Street will be closed beginning Monday, January 10, 2022 through Monday, February 7, 2022. This closure is required to remove the temporary bridge and retaining wall that was previously installed as part of the temporary bypass. Traffic will be detoured along Bank Street to Meadow Street to Freight Street.  Access to businesses will not be impacted only through traffic will be affected.
