Correctional Plumber and Steamfitter

Salary: $47,661 - $62,531 (Annually)

Minimum Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, tools and equipment involved in the plumbing and steam fitting trades; knowledge of building codes; knowledge of maintenance and repair of sprinkler systems; basic knowledge of the operation of institutional steam boilers and heating systems; interpersonal skills; oral communication skills; ability to plan, layout, and schedule maintenance assignments; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to read blueprints; ability to instruct inmates or other employees in the techniques and skills of plumbing and steam fitting; ability to perform under stress and remain stable in pressure situations; some supervisory ability.
General Experience: Five (5) years experience as a plumber and/or steam fitter.
Special Experience:
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at the highly skilled level.  *Please note the highly skilled is interpreted as repair and maintenance of commercial/industrial plumbing systems.
Substitution Allowed: Graduation from a vocational or technical school in the trade may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Experience.
Preferred Experience: Repair and maintenance of commercial plumbing systems and associated controls.  Valid P1 or P2 license.
Special Requirements:
Applicants must have reached their 18th birthday.  Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
