Position Title: Design Engineer 3 (Electrical)

Location: Central Office, Wethersfield, CT
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday
Salary: $62,203-$85,324 (Annually)

Examples of Duties: Responsibilities for engineering projects involving electrical power generating and distribution systems, switch gear installations including both high and low tension circuits, airports, street and parking lot illumination systems, closed circuit television, public address, emergency lighting, communication and alarm systems, lighting protection systems and field of building wiring in hospitals, institution buildings and technical schools; oversees, analyzes and interprets reports and test results; prepares specifications and cost estimates; reviews specifications and determines adequacy; oversees and cooperates with consultants in developing projects; evaluates merits of engineering submissions; may act as technical expert on matters pertaining to a professional licensing board or commission; performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of principles of electric power generation and distribution systems, signals, sound communications, illumination and electrical wiring systems, utility company standard practices and state and federal codes.
Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must have applied for and passed the Design Engineer 3 (Electrical) exam and be on the current certification list promulgated by the Department of Administrative Services.  State employees currently holding the above title or those who have previously attained permanent status in the class may apply for lateral transfer.
Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience designing automated door control systems, security surveillance systems and energy management systems will be given preference.
