American Red Cross Courses
DMHAS direct care staff are required to obtain and maintain certification in conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using the automated external defibrillator.  Consistent with the American Red Cross standards, staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill competency by achieving at least an 80 on the written test and by demonstrating physical skill ability according to the required competencies.
Course types are determined by each DMHAS Facility.  Staff are encouraged to review specific course information prior to attending training regardless of the course type taken. To access information, click on the following link:
DMHAS Police Officers and CVH Lifeguards Only
CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED (FPR/AED/FA) is required only for DMHAS Police Officers and CVH Lifeguards.
