Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at an 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

Water Quality Classification Maps

Water Quality Classifications Resource Guide The Water Quality Classification Maps are an element of the Connecticut Water Quality Standards and show the class assigned to each surface water and ground water resource throughout the state. The Water Quality Classification Maps have been adopted and are amended from time to time pursuant to the statutory process described in section 22a-426 of the Connecticut General Statutes. The maps are used to relate designated uses and the applicable Standards and Criteria for each class of surface and ground water resource to a specific location. GIS Shapefiles of the Water Quality Classifications (Ground Water Quality Classifications Polygon, Surface Water Quality Classification Line or Surface Water Quality Classification Polygon) are available for download on the GIS Data web page. Or, view in the online Connecticut Water Quality Classification Interactive Web Map.
