Arts Workforce Initiative Sponsorships

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arts Workforce Initiative Sponsorship program has been suspended.

The Arts Workforce Initiative Sponsorship program is a pilot program to support arts projects by urban creatives in Connecticut.  Creatives organizing community events and cultural experiences can apply for up to $1,000 for a project that will take place within 90 days of the time of application submission.  This program is part of the Office of the Arts' professional development programming and is an extension of the Arts Workforce Initiative, which was created to serve creative professionals between the ages of 18-40.

The Connecticut of the Office of the Arts partnered with the Arts Council of Greater New Haven to pilot this sponsorship program.  The sponsorship is followed by a year-long period of professional development programming, including the READI Music Conference, READI NOW Master class series, and READI Talks, targeted at creative professionals and designed to foster sustainable creative entrepreneurship in our cities. It is an outgrowth of the Office of the Arts' Urban Artist Initiative.

Interested creatives must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to receive a sponsorship:

  • Applicant must be between ages 18 - 40
  • Applicant must have a leadership role in organizing the project
  • Applicant's project must occur during the next 90 days
  • Applicant's project must take place within the designated cities: Bridgeport, Hartford, New London, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury
  • Applicant's project must align with the READI framework
