Helpful guidelines for people who are testifying virtually

Please make sure your name, telephone number, and or email address that you used to identify yourself on the call is correct. When you are called on, if the DDS staff person cannot positively identify you (i.e. you cannot be heard, etc.) in the virtual hearing, you may be asked to instead submit written testimony.

When it is your turn to speak

  • When you are called, unmute yourself. Introduce yourself and mention your town and your affiliation with DDS (e.g. Individual/Self Advocate, Family Member, Staff, Provider).
  • Please indicate whether you support or oppose, or offer suggestions to improve DDS's next 5 year plan.
  • Please keep your remarks to about 3 minutes, so that we have time to hear everyone’s testimony.
  • When you finish, the Commissioner or members of his staff may ask you clarifying questions.
  • When you are finished, you will be placed back on mute.
  • If you have any questions, or cannot attend and would like to submit written testimony instead, please email
