The Application Period Will Open 30 Days After the Social Equity Council Issues Its Final Approval

December 8, 2021 — The Department of Consumer Protection has accepted the Social Equity Council’s request to keep the application period open for 90 days for all cannabis license types that will be selected through the first lottery.

The request was formally acknowledged in a letter sent Wednesday from DCP Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull and Deputy Commissioner Andréa Comer to SEC Interim Executive Director Ginne-Rae Clay. A copy of the letter is attached.

On Tuesday, the Social Equity Council voted to approve income and residency documentation requirements for social equity applicants and cannabis businesses hoping to operate as Equity Joint Ventures, contingent upon DCP’s approval of a 90-day application window and the Council’s approval of an implementation plan for the accelerator and technical assistance programs, which will provide important business support to potential applicants.

DCP will make applications available 30 days after the Social Equity Council issues its final approval, which is currently dependent on all the contingencies included in the vote being met to the Council’s satisfaction.

Cannabis was approved for adult-use in June 2021. For information about Adult-Use Cannabis, visit ct.gov/cannabis.
