DEPUTY CHIEF STATE’S ATTORNEY

OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL

Applications are being accepted for the full-time position of Deputy Chief State’s Attorney Inspector General - (PCN 00125558).  Pursuant to Public Act No. 21-8 there shall be established a separate office within the Division of Criminal Justice to be known as the Office of the Inspector General.  Appointed by the Criminal Justice Commission, the Deputy Chief State’s Attorney – Inspector General shall lead the Office of the Inspector General.  The office shall: Conduct investigations of peace officers in accordance with C.G.S. §51-277a, as amended by the Act; prosecute any case in which the Inspector General determines a peace officer used force found to not be justifiable pursuant to C.G.S. §53a-22 or where a police officer or correctional officer fails to intervene in any such incident or to report any such incident, as required under subsection (a) of C.G.S. §7-282e or C.G.S. §18-81nn, as applicable; and make recommendations to the Police Officer Standards and Training Council established under C.G.S. §7-294b concerning censure and suspension, renewal, cancelation or revocation of a peace officer’s certification.

This is an appointed position for a term of four (4) years, which will be deemed to have commenced on July 1, 2021.  The successful applicant shall hold office from the date of appointment to June 30, 2025.  Thereafter the incumbent will be subject to reappointment to additional (4) four-year terms. The current annual salary for this position is $167,183.  For additional information regarding this position, please reference the job specification: Deputy-Chief-States-Attorney---Inspector-General

At the time of appointment, the successful candidate must be an attorney with a minimum of three years experience and shall have been admitted to the practice of law in the State of Connecticut; residency in the State of Connecticut is a prerequisite to appointment.
