What are the current rules on gatherings?


Rules on Outdoor Gatherings, Effective April 2:

Outdoor Events (amphitheaters, racetracks)

Up to 50% capacity. Capped at 10,000 people. Face masks and social distancing required.
Outdoor venues hosting private gatherings are subject to the same 200-person cap as outdoor private gatherings for commercial establishments (see above).


Fairs, Festivals, and Carnivals:

Up to 50% of last year's capacity. Face masks and social distancing required.

Summer camps and summer festivals are advised to begin the planning stages to open for the upcoming season.


Outdoor Organized Gatherings (public events such as fireworks, outdoor concerts, etc.):

Capped at 500 people. Minimum 6' distancing between blankets.
Event organizers are responsible for compliance.
Face masks required except when eating and drinking.
Seating areas must be clearly delineated.

Indoor Stadiums can open at 10% capacity.

From March 19, 2021 the general rules on gatherings are as follows:

Private, Social, and Recreational Gatherings
Commercial Establishments / Places of Business (weddings, office meetings, parties, etc.):

Indoor: Up to 50% capacity. Capped at 100 people.  
Outdoor: Capped at 200 people.
Face masks and social distancing required for both indoor and outdoor.
Capacity does not include staff.

Private Residences:

Indoor: Capped at 25 people.
Outdoor: Capped at 100 people.
Face masks and social distancing required for both indoor and outdoor.
Capacity does not include staff.

Graduations:

Indoor: 50% capacity. Capped at 100 people. Face masks and social distancing required.
Outdoor:
Limited to number of people that can be safely accommodated at location, with masks and social distancing required.

Religious Gatherings:

Indoor/Outdoor: Limited to number of people that can be safely accommodated at location, with masks and social distancing required.

Note: Executive Order No. 9G will allow executives of certain municipalities to revert to more restrictive rules for businesses and gatherings if those towns are presenting a high COVID infection rate (as identified by the CT Department of Public Health).
