Tolland REGION

Rural in style. Rich in opportunity.

A wealth of places to work with plenty of room to breathe.

The Tolland region has a distinct country feel. For first-time visitors, or for people simply driving through on I-84 or Route 2, the county’s rural appearance can be deceiving. You won’t see big corporate headquarters or sprawling manufacturing complexes along the highways. However, the reality is that we are an abundant “forest” of economic activity with over 150,000 residents and 3,000 work sites, many of whom are active in the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce.

A top ranked public university and plenty of jobs.

In addition to local schools, the Tolland region is home to one of the highest-ranking public universities in the country, the University of Connecticut (UCONN).  And with 3,000 worksites, employing over 41,000 people, Tolland County businesses have a significant regional, national and global footprint in their niche markets. The region is also adjacent to major job markets, including Hartford and Springfield.

A perfect blend of tradition and innovation.

With roots in agriculture and manufacturing, the Tolland region has a hard-working, entrepreneurial, and down to earth vibe, attractive to a growing sector of technology firms.

Easy access to affordable lifestyles.

In the Tolland region, you can buy a home with breathing room instead of a postage stamp lot. Our population density is about 370 people per square mile, compared with about 1,200 or more in Hartford, New Haven and Fairfield Counties. While there is an abundance of quaint country roads in Tolland County, I-84 and I-91 provide easy access to New York, Massachusetts and the rest of New England and, of course, Bradley Airport provides access to the world.

Towns of historic proportions.

Coventry is home to the Nathan Hale Homestead, a historic site that on Sundays transforms into one of the state’s most well-known farmer’s markets.

Attractions on the fast track.

Stafford Springs Motor Speedway is one of the country’s first automobile racetracks and today a host to NASCAR racing and other events.

Tolland County is the proud home of one of the nation’s finest and most well-known universities, UCONN.

Just a few industry leaders that make their home in the Tolland region.

From technology providers to advanced manufacturers to family-owned businesses, the region offers growth potential along with an enviable quality of life for workers.
