BAIL BOND LICENSE RENEWAL NOTICE
All documentation and payment must be received by January 31st, 2020
For your convenience, bail bond license renewals will now be submitted online as the paperless process is more efficient and easy to use. ALL the same documentation will still be required but no paper documents will be accepted by mail. All payments are now processed online through the Department’s online payment portal.
- Submit the ONLINE renewal application
Note: *Any “YES” answers should have documentation emailed to the Bail Bond mailbox: Bailbonds@ct.gov
- Submit payment for the license renewal through the Online Payment Portal
**NOTE: When entering the portal to make a payment, choose “Licensee of the CT Insurance Department” and then on the next page choose “An Invoice”. The fee will be $100.00. Any other dollar amount submitted will be incorrect and will delay your renewal being paid by the deadline.
- Submit Criminal History Record Request (PDF) by printing this document and submitting to the DESPP office in Middletown. (See address on form)
**NOTE: a business entity license does not require a criminal history request.
Please allow enough time for processing of criminal history requests. The Insurance Department has no control over the processing time at DESPP.
The surety bail bond license renewal will NOT be processed if all required documentation and payment have not been received at the Department by January 31st,2020. The Department is not responsible for misdirected items, rejected credit cards, or DESPP processing delays.
BAILBOND LICENSE ANNUAL ASSESSMENT IS ALSO DUE BY JANUARY 31st, 2020. FAILURE TO PAY THE ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MAY RESULT IN ADMINISTRATIVE SANCTIONS INCLUDING REVOCATION OF THE LICENSE. CLICK HERE FOR THE BAIL BOND ONLINE ASSESSMENT PAYMENT PORTAL
Failure to submit ALL license renewal documentation to the Department or to pay the required renewal fee by the due date, will result in the CANCELLATION of your surety bail bond license and the termination of all your insurance company appointments.
Individuals who fail to renew their licenses by the January 31st, 2020 expiration date will be required to observe all the conditions of a first-time applicant in order to be re-licensed.
