Position: Emergency Medical Technician

Salary: $15.00/hour

Schedule: Weekdays, hours vary with shifts beginning at 0500

Job Summary:

The EMT routinely provides:

  • Patient care within current Connecticut Statewide Protocols during emergency responses
  • Documentation using an electronic patient care report (EPCR)
  • Operation of association ambulances and support vehicles
  • Radio communications with dispatch center and hospitals
  • Restocking/inventorying of supplies and equipment
  • Cleaning of association buildings and vehicles

Minimum Requirements:

  • One year active experience as a State of Connecticut EMT performing emergency based pre-hospital care with a transporting agency
  • Proof of Statewide Protocol Training
  • 21 years old
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • EVOC

Proficiency in common computer software

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two years active experience as a State of Connecticut EMT preforming emergency based pre-hospital care with a transporting agency
  • Proof of Statewide Protocol Training
  • 21 years old
  • Valid CT Driver’s License with 5 years driving experience
  • EVOC with 1 year emergency driving experience
  • Proficiency in common computer software
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Interest and/or experience mentoring new EMTs

The Town of East Lyme is now accepting applications to establish a list for future openings for the position of Full-Time Firefighter. Full-Time Firefighters of The Flanders Fire Department and Niantic Fire Department provide fire, rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency medical response throughout the Town of East Lyme.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of application.

At the time of appointment the following are required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Valid driver’s license (Q2, CDL or equivalent);
  • Firefighting certification reflected in the current bargaining unit at the time of appointment;
  • Current EMT License;
  • Good moral character, stable employment history and no history of any conduct which may affect suitability for Firefighter/ EMT work;
  • Candidate must join IAFF Local 3377 within 30 days of appointment.
