State of Connecticut Firefighter - Paramedic Testing Consortium

Multiple fire agencies within the state of Connecticut area are seeking applicants to establish eligibility lists for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. These departments will be testing as a consortium and one application will grant you the ability to apply to all departments.

Written Exam Information:

Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually. Oral Interview Exam Information:

Those successfully completing the written examination must attend the oral interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for December 18, 2021. Interviews will conducted in a virtual format. Spring 2022 Connecticut Firefighter Consortium:

The Connecticut Firefighter Consortium will be testing again in the spring of 2022. Your participation in the medic testing process will automatically qualify you to be considered for the firefighter testing process. Your testing results from the medic written exam and oral interview will be combined with the 2022 firefighter consortium results. No additional action is required on your part for this to occur. However, if you do not pass a portion of testing for the medic process or you wish to improve your score, you may purchase the application again and test with the 2022 firefighter consortium.

Under the direction of the Chief of Fire and Emergency Services, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Chief in the overall operation and management of the Mashantucket Pequot Fire and Emergency Services Department and carries out the function of Chief in his/her absence.  This includes the safety, enforcement and compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Tribal laws and regulations pertaining to Fire Safety systems, and New Construction fire protection.  Serves as the Deputy Fire Marshal and Deputy Emergency Management Director.  Oversees the daily scheduling and responsibilities of the Fire Captains, Fire Protection System Specialists, and Fire Inspectors.  Scope of responsibility includes the direct supervision of all fire protection systems as well as all fire safety systems for all reservation properties and Tribally owned business enterprises. As Deputy Fire Marshal, oversees all Life Safety Inspections, Plan reviews, Fire Investigations. The employee holds the applicable rank insignia pertaining to the second in command. As Deputy Emergency Management Director, shall keep updated and knowledgeable of all Emergency Management protocols and training. Associates degree in Fire Technology and Administration preferred. Three (3) years of supervisory experience is required. Certification as a Fire Officer II, Fire Marshal, Fire Instructor 1, Certified Safety Officer an E.P.A. Hazardous Materials Technician and Emergency Medical Technician required.  Must have certification as Fire Officer III or must obtain within 18 months of employment.  Maintenance and continued currency of all certifications is required.  Although we have designated this position as a "key" position pursuant to the Tribal and Native American Preference Law, we encourage qualified Tribal members and other preference eligible individuals to apply.
