Director of Certification Selection

Peter S. Carozza, Jr., Chairman of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Commission on Fire Prevention and Control is pleased to announce the selection and promotion of William Trisler to the position of Director of Certification. 

An Ellington resident, Trisler has served as a Program Manager with the Connecticut Fire Academy since 2007.  Before joining the CFA team, he was a licensed teacher in Massachusetts and a licensed teacher and school administrator in Tennessee.  Prior to entering into the field of education, he spent 20 years in the United States Navy and is a U. S. Navy Master Training Specialist and served as the Curriculum and Instruction Standards Officer at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes Illinois.

Trisler holds a B. S. in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.  He has also graduated from numerous military schools and numerous fire service related courses including Fire Service Instructor III.  In addition to structural firefighting, his background includes aircraft and maritime firefighting.

Trisler is an adjunct faculty member with Capital Community College in the Fire Technology and Administration degree program and a member of the Connecticut Fire Department Instructors’ Association.  The promotion is effective immediately.
