DEEP Produces Dry Hydrant Video

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) has just completed a new 5-minute video on dry hydrants and fire protection. Dry hydrants provide easy access to water for fire departments year round -- thus protecting property and saving lives. They are also a way for towns to improve their ISO ratings, which can save on insurance premiums. In 2011, Connecticut's wetlands laws were changed to make it easier for municipalities to install dry hydrants. Contact DEEP’s Forestry Division at 860-424-3630 for more information and funding opportunities.

This video may be of assistance to fire departments, Chief Elected Officials, Inland Wetland Agencies as well as town planners.

Bridge Mounted Dry Hydrant Workshops will also be offered at the Colchester Fire Department on Tuesday July 9th and Wednesday July 10 at the Somers Fire Department. These presentations are duplicate workshops. Mark Davis, President of GBW Associates, LLC; www.gotbigwater.com will discuss the application of bridge mounted dry hydrants.
