(Windsor Locks, CT) - The Connecticut Fire Academy is proud to announce the graduation of the Introduction to the Fire Service (ITTFS) Program.  A select group of 29 members of local fire department Cadet, Junior and Explorer programs, ages 16 to 17, will graduate on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 AM at the Connecticut Fire Academy located at 34 Perimeter Road in Windsor Locks.

The six-day residential program runs from June 25 through June 30. Throughout the program, character, mutual and self-respect, individual empowerment and teamwork are emphasized as students participate in physical fitness training, learn in a classroom setting, compete in team-based activities and progress in squads through a series of practical training evolutions divided into engine, ladder and rescue company operations.

Over the past 22 years, the program has evolved from two five-day sessions each summer to three, six-day residential sessions. Many alumni of the program have gone on to become career firefighters.

Two additional camps to include an Advance Skills and Concepts programs for previous ITTFS graduates will be held the week of July 16 and August 6.

The media is invited to attend the graduation which includes an emergency scene scenario demonstration of all the activities learned during the week. Please contact Program Coordinator Alan Zygmunt at 860-264-9222 should you be interested in attending.

The Connecticut Fire Academy is the teaching arm of the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, a Division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.  Their mission is to serve as the primary source of education and training for Connecticut firefighters.
