Introduction to the Fire Service Summer Camp Program Graduation
Ceremony to Take Place in Windsor Locks on Saturday, June 30, 2018
(Windsor Locks, CT) - The
Connecticut Fire Academy is proud to announce the graduation of the
Introduction to the Fire Service (ITTFS) Program. A select group of 29
members of local fire department Cadet, Junior and Explorer programs, ages 16
to 17, will graduate on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The ceremony will take place
at 11:00 AM at the Connecticut Fire Academy located at 34 Perimeter Road in
Windsor Locks.
The six-day residential program runs from June 25 through June 30. Throughout
the program, character, mutual and self-respect, individual empowerment and
teamwork are emphasized as students participate in physical fitness training,
learn in a classroom setting, compete in team-based activities and progress in
squads through a series of practical training evolutions divided into engine,
ladder and rescue company operations.
Over the past 22 years, the program has evolved from two five-day sessions each
summer to three, six-day residential sessions. Many alumni of the program have
gone on to become career firefighters.
Two additional camps to include an Advance Skills and Concepts programs for previous ITTFS graduates will be held the week of July 16 and August 6.

an emergency scene scenario demonstration of all the activities learned during

The Connecticut Fire Academy is the teaching arm of the Connecticut
Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, a Division of the Department of
Emergency Services and Public Protection. Their mission is to serve as
the primary source of education and training for Connecticut firefighters.
