FAA Aviation Emergency First Responder Training Program Virtual

FAA Aviation Emergency First Responder Training Program (Virtual)

Registration is now open for the Aviation Emergency First Responder Training course.

There are two virtual offerings currently, one for night shift and one for day shift

ALL are welcome, including Police, Fire and EMS.

  • Thursday, July 8, 2021 1800-2130 (to capture night crews)
  • Tuesday, July 13, 2021 1100-1500 (With a lunch built in) (good opportunity for pizzas to be brought in, etc)

The training is a well-rounded training program that will be able to offer training credits for all participants based on their specialty.  Completion certificates will be issued, which can be submitted during renewal for your certificate or training credits.

All participants are welcome including Police, Fire, EMS (all levels).  CEU credits of 4 credit hours can apply.

The presentation offered by the Bradley FSDO FAA FAAST Team includes a wide variety of knowledge on aviation emergencies for first responders.  This will include securing a scene, scene safety AND preservation and the unique hazards that come with aviation accidents.  Medical topics will include first hand training on stabilizing, extricating and treating the occupants.  We will learn about aircraft familiarization and unique cases such as hot air balloons, sky dive injuries, military aircraft and rotorcraft.  Aircraft estabilization, egress procedures and aircraft entry procedures are a perfect lesson for all specialties to indulge in.  This is a fast paced, multi-faceted training complete with live presenters, detailed slides and video based training – created right from our local operators at our Connecticut airports.

After completing this course, all participants will be eligible for the Phase 2, which will be a hands-on, live portion at a local airport. Details are in the works for this part. We will collaborate with local pilots, aircraft operators and airport managers to make these sessions happen alongside an in-person training to touch, feel and experience egress and shut down procedures in a variety of aircraft.

These offerings will fill up quickly, so please choose one and register!

If you have any questions, please reach out to either the FAAST Team Program manager John Dan Carter (John.Carter@faa.gov) or the instructor Melanie Folcik Barillaro (Melanie.a.folcik.barillaro@faa.gov).
