Fire Prevention Week
It’s Fire Prevention Week – Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives!
October 5-11 is Fire Prevention Week, and hopefully your department and Fire Corps team are using this opportunity to conduct fire prevention events and promote important fire prevention and life safety messages and information in your community. This year’s theme is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!”
Fire prevention efforts should be an on-going effort throughout the year, and there are many resources available to help your department and support team start and expand a fire prevention program in your community.
Fire Prevention Week 2014: Find materials and resources to help promote
the theme “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives” and educate the public on important smoke alarm and fire safety information.
Smoke Alarm and Home Safety Check Program: Fire Corps provides resources to help departments and Fire Corps teams conduct smoke alarm and home safety check programs, including the Home Safety Checklist, a customizable flyer to promote the program, safety tips for outside the home, and instructions for installing a smoke alarm. Registered Fire Corps members can download these materials for free; if you are not a member of Fire Corps, register for free here.
Install. Inspect. Protect.: The Commission on Fire Prevention and Control urges residents to install smoke alarms in their home and inspect and maintain them on a regular basis.
