The Good Works Committee of the CT Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society selected the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control as the recipient of a donation of $1031.75.  The funding will be used to purchase Rope Rescue related training equipment to support the Connecticut Fire Academy’s Technical Rescue and Recruit Firefighter Training programs. 

The Good Works Committee is a standing committee of the local CPCU Chapter.  CPCU Society is a not-for-profit organization comprised of insurance professionals who have completed the extensive educational program to attain the designation. 

In her presentation of a check to the Commission at their November meeting, Alyce DeAngelo, CPCU, API of the Good Works Committee stated “The CT Chapter of the CPCU Society members and Fire Service professionals have much in common in that we share a fundamental goal in mitigating damages and saving lives.  The fire service plays a crucial role in achieving this.  A good fire department not only saves lives and damage to property, but it also plays a part in reducing the property insurance premiums for their local community…..Our CPCU members send their sincere thanks and best wishes to your dedicated staff at The Academy, who prepare our brave first responders.  This extensive training provides the necessary skills and experience to conquer the dangers they face on any given day.”
