It is with extreme regret to announce the LODD of Kenneth Jeffery, Assistant Chief, Groton, CT Sub Base Fire Department.
Chief Jeffery was working on Christmas Day (one of his last shifts prior to his well deserved retirement) when he become ill. After being evaluated at a local Hospital for what was determined to be an aortic related injury, he was flown to Hartford Hospital. He under went surgery and a few days later suffered a heart attack. After an all out effort by Hartford Hospital Staff, many of whom were personal friends, he passed away Wednesday evening, December 31st, 2003.
Brother Ken Jeffery was also the active Fire Chief of the Windsor Locks Fire Department with over 30 years of service. He was also an Instructor at the CT Fire Academy. Chief Jeffery was involved in many fire service organizations and touched the lives of many of us.
Kenny was 52 yoa and leaves behind his wife, Kathy and son, Timothy who is also a Fire Fighter with the Windsor Locks Fire Department.
Our thoughts and PRAYERS go out to Kenny's Family, the Brothers and Sisters of both the Groton Sub Base and Windsor Locks Fire Departments, the Staff of the CT Fire Academy and the many other friends from both within and out of the fire service.
The wake will be on Friday, January 2nd, 2004 from 16:00 - 20:00 hours (4:00pm-8:00pm) at the Brown Funeral Home, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT. (Both the Sub Base & Windsor Locks FD's will be providing an Honor Guard Post)
The Funeral will be Saturday, January 4th, 2004 at 10:00 hours at St. Mary's RC Church, 40 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT.
The designated STAGING locations will be the Windsor Locks High School, South Elm Street. It is strong recommended to car pool / bus attendees to the staging location. There will be shuttle busses provided to the Church. Staging will start at 08:00 hours. NO fire apparatus is requested with the exception of the Sub Base and Windsor Locks FD's.
Following the Church Service, there will be a Fire Service march to the Cemetery followed by a reception at the WLFD Safety Complex.
