9-11 Remembrance Commemoration at CFA

Members of Connecticut's Fire Service and the public are invited to visit the Connecticut Firefighters Memorial on Wednesday, September 11th.

The staff of the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control will conduct a 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the Connecticut Firefighters Memorial located at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks. Staff and recruit firefighters cordially invite members of the public and fire service to participate in the approximate 30 minute event.

Individuals not able to attend the event are encouraged to visit the Memorial any time that day or evening to pay respect to the 9-11 victims and their families including the 343 firefighters who paid the supreme sacrifice. Weather permitting, the Academy will have on display a picture presented by the Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) to Connecticut¹s Fire Service in appreciation for their efforts in raising $1 million in support of the New York 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund.

NOTE: The Connecticut Fire Academy is located on Perimeter Road at Bradley International Airport adjacent to the New England Air Museum.

I-91 North or South to Exit 40 (Route 20, Bradley Connector). Follow Route 20 West 1.7 miles to the exit for Route 75. Take a right off the exit onto Route 75 North, follow 2.9 miles. Take a left onto North Perimeter Road (see sign for Connecticut Fire Academy and New England Air Museum). Continue 1.4 miles to the Academy which will be on your right. Parking is available at the rear of the building.
