AG Jepsen Joins Alliance Supporting Paris Climate Agreement
Attorney General George Jepsen has joined with 18 other state attorneys general in signing an open letter affirming support for climate action to meet the Paris Climate Agreement.
The open letter – addressed to the international community – signals that the signatories intend to work together to pursue climate goals and help ensure that the United States remains a global leader in reducing emissions.
"I am proud to stand with my fellow attorneys general and with governors, businesses and leaders from around the country in pledging our support for this coalition," said Attorney General Jepsen. "Attorneys general are ready, willing and able to defend our state and federal laws that seek to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, protect our environment and improve our air quality. The lack of leadership on these critical issues from the Trump Administration will not deter our commitment."
The state attorneys general are the latest group to join the alliance, which also includes governors –Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the state of Connecticut's commitment last week – college and university leaders and members of the business community.
In addition to Connecticut, the attorneys general of California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and the District of Columbia joined the letter today.
