Attorney General Praises Appeals Court Decision Affirming Lower Court Ruling Barring Pratt Layoffs

July 8, 2010

“This decision is a victory for about 1,000 workers facing layoffs during especially tough economic times and for Connecticut’s economy. I fought to keep these jobs in Connecticut -- personally arguing in court that incentives offered to the company by the state were improperly disregarded and demeaned. The higher court agreed that the company failed to meet its contractual obligation to vigorously and aggressively avoid job losses.

“I urge the company to abandon further efforts to overturn this decision and instead seek common ground with workers and the state in keeping jobs in Connecticut.”
