Attorney General Calls Backpage Actions First Step But More Needed

October 18, 2010

“These changes are a start, but fall short, failing to fully close the thriving online brothel on backpage. Although backpage has heeded our call for action, sections like ‘escorts’ with apparent prostitution ads remain.

“I urge backpage to shut down any section enabling exploitation of women and children.

“I will continue fighting to hold backpage and others accountable for enabling criminal activity.”
