Attorney General Praises Obama Administration's Proposed Rules Increasing Vehicle Gasoline Mileage

"I welcome these long overdue, tougher rules and standards on vehicle emissions and fuel economy, an historic step toward protecting our planet and our national security. These tougher standards are a major victory in the fight for cleaner air that we have helped to wage in the courts and Congress. The federal government is now our ally -- no longer our adversary -- in this war against greenhouse gas emissions.
"I will strongly support these proposed regulations, and work to make them even more stringent if necessary during the formal comment period ahead."
