The Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection has provided notice to the Attorney General of an abnormal market disruption regarding the wholesale price of motor gasoline or gasohol. Pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. ยง 42-234, no seller of motor gasoline or gasohol shall sell, or offer to sell, an energy resource at an unconscionably excessive price between April 13, 2026, and May 13, 2026.

Attorney General Applauds DPUC Draft Decision Effectively Denying UI Rate Increase Request

"This draft decision is a major triumph for ratepayers and a resounding rebuke to UI. The outpouring of outrage and opposition turned the tide, showing that citizens can make a difference. We're determined to continue the fight to assure this decision stands and that the company respects it. There was absolutely no justification -- none -- for rate increases to provide executives with higher compensation and the company with higher profit levels when Connecticut families are struggling to make ends meet.

"When the DPUC makes this decision final, we will ask it to eliminate all executive pay increases and closely and critically scrutinize the property lease and purchase for its new headquarters."
