Allegation(s):
- The Parent alleged that the Student’s desk was placed in a seclusion room during his special education classroom time for the Student to work without parent notification. The Parent further indicates that there was no window and the door of the space did not allow a child inside to have a clear line of sight beyond the area of seclusion.
Conclusion(s):
- It was concluded that the space was not a seclusion space, but was, instead, a quiet space in which students could choose to work. The desk that was in the space was not the student’s desk, it was a desk that was made available for students who were choosing to work in the space. The student’s desk remained in his general education classroom. As a general note, the overall area was modified and the space was disassembled, as it was composed of temporary wall.
