Case Number:
26-0389
Grade Level:
Elementary/PreK
Person filing complaint:
Parent
School District:
Farmington Public Schools (single student)
Allegation(s):
Issue: The Parent alleged that the Student’s November 17, 2025, IEP, required that, for school year 2025-2026, the Student receive 27.5 total school hours per week and the District did not provide that to the Student. The Student is 3 years old and her placement, per the IEP, is a Prekindergarten Program. The Parent alleged that since December 10, 2025, the District provided the Student with the opportunity to participate in 10 total school hours per week rather than 27.5 hours. (34 CFR § 300.17(d))
Conclusion(s):
While the Student’s November 17, 2025, IEP recorded the total school hours per week as 27.5, there was supporting evidence to indicate that this was not the intention of the PPT, but rather, a calculation error in the CT-SEDS system. The District, from the onset, made the recommended 10 hours per week total school hours available to the Student and took steps to correct the CT-SEDS system calculation error through the appropriate venue of a CT-SEDS Help Desk ticket. In light of evidence that the 27.5 total school hours per week was a CT-SEDS error (which has been resolved), and evidence that the PPT recommended 10 hours per week, which was implemented, it was concluded that the District was not out of compliance with 34 CFR § 300.17(d). No corrective actions were issued.
