Due to inclement weather, the Teacher of the Year Ceremony has been postponed to December 16, 2025 from 5-7pm. Doors will open at 4pm. The Ceremony will take place at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, and the order of events will remain the same.

Allegation(s):

  • Failure to provide a full copy of the individualized education program (IEP) to the parents within five days after the planning and placement team (PPT) meeting to develop, review or revise the individualized education program per RCSA §10-76d-13(a)(6).

Conclusion(s):

  • The District failed to complete and provide the IEP within the required timeline. Therefore, it is concluded that the District was in violation of RCSA §10-76d-13(a)(6) and corrective actions will follow.

Corrective Action(s):

  • The District is to provide training for all special education teachers and administrators, on IEP timeline documentation compliance. The training could be a part of professional development for staff. An agenda for the training and a list of attendees must be submitted to this office.
  • The District will provide proof of completion and finalization of all required documents for all PPTs for the Student for the duration of the 2024-2025 school year.
