2025-26 CSDE Focus Areas
These are the seven areas of focus for the Connecticut State Department of Education during the 2025-26 school year:
Educator Workforce
Expand our Educator Workforce, so that every classroom and central office has skilled, high-quality, and inspiring educators.
Safe and Healthy Learning Environments
Support Safe and Healthy Learning Environments, where every student feels a sense of belonging and every staff member feels supported.
Students Present and Engaged
Ensure Students are Present and Engaged, because we all know that attendance is a precursor to engagement, which is a precursor to learning.
High-Quality Instructional Materials
Elevate and Support High Quality Instructional Materials, giving our educators the tools they need to spark curiosity and deepen learning, while also giving them back the gift of time.
Postsecondary Pathways
Modernize and Expand Post-Secondary Pathways, so students can see futures that match their talents, their passions, and their dreams.
Improve Student Outcomes
Improve Outcomes for All Students, with a focus on increased access and opportunity for students with varying abilities and those with unique needs.
School, Family, Community Partnerships
Strengthen and Promote School, Family, and Community Partnerships, because education is a collective effort, and none of us can unlock potential alone.
