Paying for an Abortion

Your ability to pay shouldn't impact your decision. Your abortion may be free or low cost if you have health insurance. The cost of an abortion may vary depending on your provider.

HUSKY Health: The Connecticut Medicaid plan covers abortion services for people enrolled in HUSKY, in our state.
If you have other health insurance plans, including Medicaid plans from other states, your plan may or may not pay for abortion services. Please check with your health insurance provider or Medicaid agency to get answers to your questions about paying for abortion services.

You have other options to pay for an abortion. Many private organizations, non-profit groups, and even employers have stepped up to help people close the abortion cost gap.

If your health plan doesn’t pay for abortion services, these organizations may be able to help:

National Network of Abortion Funds helps pay for abortion care, transportation, child care, and other expenses related to having an abortion.
Planned Parenthood of Southern New England may also be able to help you find local or national organizations that can help you. Visit their website or call them at 800-230-7526 (PLAN).
The REACH Fund of Connecticut is a new non-profit organization that will provide financial assistance for abortion care in our state beginning fall 2022.
