Legal Assistance

Legal Help for Patients and Providers

Free Legal Help Hotline: 212-899-5567

Free legal assistance for abortion rights and access is now available in Connecticut thanks to a volunteer network of trained, private attorneys. The task force hotline, 212-899-5567, provides pro bono (free) legal guidance and representation to patients and abortion providers. The 24-hour hotline is available in 12 languages.

Abortion is legal and protected in Connecticut, and access to accurate legal information is important. The hotline provides legal resources for:

  • Connecticut residents seeking an abortion
  • patients wanting to travel to Connecticut for an abortion
  • organizations that support patients
  • health care providers

About the Hotline

The legal hotline was established by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has championed Connecticut’s participation in the hotline and the appointment of a new Special Counsel for Reproductive Rights.

The Special Counsel will lead the Office of the Attorney General in protecting abortion access and reproductive care throughout our state and anywhere those rights are challenged nationwide.
