Abortion Rights are Protected in Connecticut

Abortion is legal and available in Connecticut. The right to an abortion has been codified in Connecticut state law since 1990. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to end the federal constitutional protection of abortion will not impact abortion rights in Connecticut.

Governor Ned Lamont is fighting to keep abortion safe, legal, and accessible in Connecticut, even as abortion rights are under attack in states across the country and at the federal level.

  • Connecticut law guarantees the right to abortion care. You do not have to be from Connecticut to receive abortion and other reproductive health care here.
  • You can speak confidentially to a provider about the options available for your care.
  • Connecticut protects your right to abortion until 24 weeks. After that, you can have an abortion if your health or life is in danger.
Abortion Providers and Care

"Politicians should not get between a person and their doctor. As long as I am governor, reproductive rights will be protected in Connecticut, and I will do everything in my power to block laws from being passed that restrict those rights."

- Governor Ned Lamont
