The U.S. Navy has awarded Groton shipyard Electric Boat a $255 million contract modification for the construction of strategic and attack submarines.

The modification covers engineering, technical, design and planning supports at the yard.

EB says it will support ongoing work on both the Virginia class submarines and new Columbia class.

“We appreciate the Navy’s continued confidence in Electric Boat’s ability to provide critical engineering and planning yard support for the submarine fleet,” EB President Mark Rayha said. “This contract modification enables our team to sustain the readiness and reliability of the Navy’s most strategic undersea platforms.”
