Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Servies (EMPS):
Dial 211 and select “1” for “crisis,”. The centralized number is accessible 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
This service provides emergency services including mobile response; psychiatric assessment; medication consultation, assessment, and short-term medication management; behavioral management services; substance abuse screening and referral to traditional and non-traditional services for any family with a child in crisis.

Urgent Crisis Centers: Four Urgent Crisis Centers are now available on a walk-in basis to families of children who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis but do not require emergency department level of care. They are strategically located across Connecticut and are operated by:

Carelon Behavioral Health’s Voluntary Care Management
A program that helps families with a youth under 18 with an existing primary diagnosis of an emotional, behavioral or substance use problem get connected to the services and supports they need. Carelon works with all families, regardless of insurance. Referrals are made by calling the DCF Dedicated Voluntary Care Management line: 800-842-2288, option 3.
