What does the Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) do?

The OCA makes sure children in Connecticut are safe and treated fairly. OCA reviews how State and private agencies care for children and speaks up when changes are needed.

The team includes lawyers and child specialists who review cases, check on child safety, and respond to complaints.

What are the main areas of OCA’s work?

OCA focuses on three things:

  • Child Fatality Reviews: Reviews child death reports to help prevent future harm
  • Systemic Advocacy: Checks how systems like foster care and schools treat children
  • Complaint Response: Reviews concerns about services for children
