Data from the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse and UCONN CT Crash Data Repository indicate that work zone crashes, fatalities and injuries are on the rise.  Nationally there were 94,000 crashes in work zones in 2017, 123,000 crashes in 2018, 115,000 crashes in 2019, 102,000 crashes in 2020 and 104,000 crashes in 2021.  Nationally there were 809 fatalities in work zones in 2017, 757 fatalities in 2018, 845 fatalities in 2019, 863 fatalities in 2020 and 956 fatalities in 2021.  Nationally there were 39,000 injuries in work zone crashes in 2017, 45,000 injuries in 2018, 38,000 injuries in 2019,  44,000 injuries in 2020 and 42,000 in juries in 2021.
